This paper focuses on Scratch language of programming and traces its math and linguistic features. From a complex consideration about Scratch language programming in linguistic paradigm, focusing on structural, semantic and syntactic features and logic of its narration, this research attempts to clarify specifics of the language and correlate it with the English language features. Global integration of ideas and sciences underline the crucial importance of programming and language conglomerate. Human-computer interfaces, software systems, and development of various programming languages depend on well-balanced structure, shape, logic, and appearance of the actual code. Dynamic characteristics of the Scratch programming environment sustain the creation of interactive and media-rich projects. Ad expansion of Scratch for mediation of animated stories, music videos, science projects, tutorials, and other contents necessitates multifaceted analysis of this programming environment and evokes the interest of researching Scratch from the math and linguistic perspective as one possible projection on various aspects of the considered programming language

Grice’s Theory of Implicature in the Philosophy of the Cosmos

    Get PDF
The article is devoted to the problem of communication between the earthly and unearthly mind. The authors contrasted Grice’s theory of implicature with the Philosophy of the Cosmos. As a result, it has been found that the use of Grice’s theory of implication at the scale of space exploration changes the meanings of the theory of implicature significantly. The opposition between Grice’s theory of implicature and the Philosophy of the Cosmos updates the question “How acceptable are the similarities of the histories of cosmic civilizations at admissibility of similarity of the key phases of the physical, chemical, biological, and neurobiological evolution?” The study has shown that in the scope of space exploration, the meanings of the key term “the history of the cosmic civilization” are changing, in the question posed. They are formalized. The formalization of the term “history of the cosmic civilization” means the concentration of information in it, which is limited by the stages of neuroevolution and its external manifestations — “techne” (in the initial, antique senses). Based on the results obtained, the authors examined Grice’s four maxims in space exploration and found their weak practical effect. It was proved that the basic Cooperative Principle, which was complemented by the Q and R Principles of Horn, effectively manifested itself in communication between space civilizations. The authors have concluded that 1) Grice’s theory of implicature confirms the truth of the Philosophy of the Cosmos; 2) the main provisions of the theory of implicature are not refuted, however, they are specifie

Сase study in Russia: the views of parents on schoolchildren’s cyber addiction in the course of online learning

AbstractNot only children but also adults now spend much more time in front of the screen (computers, laptops, tablets, phones, TVs, Play Station, other game consoles, etc.) for various reasons: work, study, a lot of free time, communication, entertainment, information retrieval. The aim of this paper is to examine how the time spent in front of the screen at school influence the developing of computer addiction in primary schoolchildren. The development of Internet addiction has negative educational (deterioration of academic performance), medical (reduced mental health, decreased general stress-resistance, risk of depression), and social consequences (reduced quality and quantity of social contacts). The respondents were 120 parents and 120 secondary school students of one of the schools in Moscow. The participants were asked to answer 9 multiple-choice questions. To assess the level of Internet addiction of schoolchildren, the Internet Addiction Test created by K. Young and modified by V.A. Loskutova (Burova) was used. As a result, 69% of the parents surveyed noted that their children spend more than four hours a day on online learning. Proposed approach consists of two stages, which are a gradual reduction of the time children spend on the Internet and the replacement of problematic behavior with other alternatives. The research results provide the knowledge to prevent cyber addiction in schoolchildren and the incentive for further research

Intercultural adaptation of students in a foreign language and multicultural society of a metropolis

    No full text
Theoretical and practical development of the problem of students’ adaptation in a foreign language and multicultural society is one of the key problems of the academic mobility development of the individual throughout life. The need to solve this problem is determined by the socio-cultural dynamics of education development in the context of its global shifts, transformations, and systemic changes. The purpose of the article is to conduct a theoretical analysis of the problem of students' adaptation in the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis. The article deals with the problem of cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students in Russian universities to the foreign language and multicultural social medium of the metropolis. The phenomenon of cross-cultural adaptation is studied on an interdisciplinary basis. The authors consider the theoretical approaches to the study of various aspects of cross-cultural adaptation of a person to a foreign language and multicultural society, as well as analyze the educational opportunities and potential of intercultural interaction based on the dialogue of cultures as a mechanism underlying the process of adaptation of students in the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis. According to the authors, the success of foreign students’ education is also determined by their readiness to accept the entire cultural diversity of the foreign-speaking world and foreign language culture, as well as their tolerant attitude toward them. The article highlights and characterizes the main directions and specific content of students’ adaptation to foreign language and multicultural society. The authors conclude that cross-cultural adaptation can be an effective way for foreign students to enter the new socio-cultural conditions of the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis

Methane Dry Reforming Catalysts Based on Pr-Doped Ceria–Zirconia Synthesized in Supercritical Propanol

This paper is devoted to the study of active and stable nickel catalysts for methane dry reforming based on Pr-doped ceria–zirconia obtained via the solvothermal continuous method. Studies on the physicochemical and catalytic properties of the 5%Ni/Ce0.75Zr0.25−xPrxO2 series have showed that Pr introduction leads to an increase in the amount of highly reactive oxygen in the oxide lattice. Praseodymium-based catalysts showed significantly higher reactant conversions. In addition to the nature of support, the method of nickel introduction was also studied; Ni was added both using impregnation and the one-pot procedure with mixed oxide preparation. The method of Ni addition was shown to have significant effect on the morphology of its particles and Ni-support interaction, and, respectively, on catalytic activity and coking stability. The 5%Ni/Ce0.75Zr0.15Pr0.1O2 catalyst prepared by one-pot method showed stable operation in the MDR reaction for 30 h at CO2 and CH4 conversions of ~40% and an H2 yield of ~18% (T = 700 °C, τ = 10 ms)

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancer types in the world with a high mortality rate. Hereditary predisposition for GC is not fully elucidated so far. The aim of this study was identification of possible new candidate genes, associated with the increased risk of gastric cancer development. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed on 18 DNA samples from adenocarcinoma specimens and non-tumor-bearing healthy stomach tissue from the same patient. Three pathogenic variants were identified: c.1320+1G>A in the CDH1 gene and c.27_28insCCCAGCCCCAGCTACCA (p.Ala9fs) of the VEGFA gene were found only in the tumor tissue, whereas c.G1874C (p.Cys625Ser) in the FANCA gene was found in both the tumor and normal tissue. These changes were found only in patients with diffuse gastric cancer and were absent in the DNA of healthy donors
